The Tour of Britain visited Devon on Thursday 15 September with the route taking in sunny Broadclyst. The world class field of riders was greeted by around 700 students from Clyst Vale Community College as they raced past the front of the College. Students had lined the pavement with Devon flags and cheered every support vehicle and police out rider until the peleton arrived just after 2.00pm. The sight of so many elite athletes in team colours riding gleaming bikes at full speed round the curve onto the College frontage brought huge cheers of support from the students. In the end Australian Mark Renshaw raced home to victory in the stage on Exmouth sea front followed by legendary Brit and HTC team mate Mark Cavendish.
